The National Bank of Egypt was established on June 25, 1898,
with a capital of one million pounds sterling.
It continues to carry out the functions of the Central Bank in areas where the latter has no branches
in addition to undertaking since the mid-sixties the issuance and management of investment certificates for the account of the State.
